HENNIKER, N.H. – The Thomas College baseball team was swept in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader to New England College on Saturday, falling 7-4 and 6-2.
Game 1: NEC 7, Thomas 4
The Pilgrims brought in a run in the fourth and fifth to cut the lead down to one. Later on in the bottom of the sixth, NEC took the lead and began to pull away on five runs in the frame. Trailing 7-3, Thomas brought in one run in the seventh on a ground out by Roberto Duran (San Diego, Cal.) to finish at 7-4.
Jameson Cary earned the win on the mound for the Pilgrims in seven innings, seven hits, and four runs.
Game 2: NEC 6, Thomas 2
Thomas opened the scoring once again in the second on an RBI double from Curtis to score Cousins. NEC took the lead in the fifth on three runs to take a 4-0 advantage. The Terriers cut the deficit in half on another RBI single by Curtis.
The Pilgrims tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to preserve the 6-2 win.
Jeam Castillo pitched 5.1 in the win for NEC, giving up five hits and two runs. Nick Powers earned the save in a clean 1.2 innings.
Cody Cousins (Wells, Maine) threw 4.2 innings in the effort, scattering six hits and four runs (two earned).
The Terriers will travel to Vermont next weekend for a four-game series with Lyndon.
