Terriers Earn a Split in Doubleheader Versus Keuka College

AUBURNDALE, FL - The Thomas baseball team earned a split in thier doubleheader yesterday afternoon against Keuka College. The Terriers fell in game one 7-3 but rebounded in a big way to grab a 10-2 victory in game two.

GAME ONE RECAP

The Terriers and Wolfpack through four innings, until a two-run fifth and sixth inning helped Keuka College pull away for a 7-3 win in game one of the doubleheader on Thursday afternoon. Alex Curtis collected two hits, including one triple and two runs batted in for Thomas in defeat.

After a scoreless first inning, the Wolfpack struck first for the lead in the top of the second inning, scoring three runs. Thomas would respond in the bottom of the third however, plating three runs, highlighted by Curtis' triple, to tie the game up at three.

Keuka College responded in the fifth and sixth innings, scoring two runs in each inning to give the Wolfpack a 7-3 lead that they would eventually close out for the win. Taylor Bacon, Nik Beeson and Sean Twohig each logged work on the mound in the game for Thomas.

GAME TWO RECAP

Thomas scored three time in the top of the first inning and never trailed as they went on to a 10-2 victory in game two of the doubleheader against Keuka College on Thursday afternoon. The Terriers scored 10 runs on 11 hits.

Nik Beeson had a tremendous game for Thomas, going 3 for 3 with two doubles, one walk and four runs batted in. Derek Kane knocked home three runs and Anree Benitez had two hits with one triple as eight different Terriers had at least one hit on the game.

The Terriers bats were on early, as they scored in the each of the first three innings and added a four-run sixth inning to complete the 10-run effort.

Matt Romandetti got the victory on the mound, going two strong innings allowing just one hit and two runs, one earned with one strikeout. Isiah Fleming came on in relief and went five shutout innings to earn the save, allowing five hits and striking out four.

Thomas will be back on the diamond Saturday, March 28 when they take on Lawrence University for a doubleheader starting at 10:00 AM.
