BANGOR, ME - Thomas College was able to split the two games between Lyndon State College in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) baseball doubleheader on Sunday evening played at Husson University. Lyndon took the first game 4-3, then the Terriers won the nightcap 12-0.
Thomas scored first, getting a single by Derek Kane that scored Joe Quinlan in the top of the first. The lead would not last though as the Hornets responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Lyndon State would seal the walkoff victory in the bottom of the seventh on a wild pitch that scored Rollins from third.
The Terriers scored one run in the first inning on a Zack Groat triple, then a grand slam by Anree Benitez in the second added to the Red and Black's lead to five. Thomas added another five runs in the fourth, and two in the seventh to seal the 12-0 win.
Benitez led the Terriers at bat going 5-5 with five RBI in the winning effort.
CJ Pendleton tossed a complete game shutout, giving up five hits with eight strikeouts.
Thomas will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to DI University of Maine. First pitch scheduled for 5:00 PM.
