Brunswick, Maine – The Thomas College Baseball team (7-14, 4-2 NEAC East) played a non-conference doubleheader on the road at Bowdoin (13-6, 2-1 NESCAC). The Polar Bears won games, 7-6 in the first and then 12-0 in the second game.
In the first game, Thomas took a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth when Eric James Spears scored on a two out error. Bowdoin came back with the tying run in the the bottom of the sixth, when Kyle LeBlanc came home on a wild pitch. Jordan Edgett ripped an RBI triple to score Matt Ruane and give Bowdoin the lead. Bowdoin scored two more runs to give them a 7-4 lead. Thomas rallied for two runs in the seventh against Ian Edwards, but it wasn't enough at Bowdoin held on for the 7-6 win.
In game two, Bowdoin scored 12 runs on 17 hits and got a complete game shutout from pitcher Evan Farley, who had 10 strikeouts and only allowed two hits. Josh Gray and Eric Sucy picked up the two hits for Thomas.
Thomas will be back in action Tuesday, April 12 for a doubleheader at St. Joseph's (ME) (14-9, 5-1 GNAC) with the first game scheduled to begin at 4:00p.m.
