Two First Years Earn Honors

Whitingham, Vt. – Two Thomas College first year athletes picked up Conference Rookie of the Week Honors in the selections announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Mary Grace Morris was named NAC Rookie of the Week for women’s soccer while Jessica Bowen picks up North East Athletic Conference East Rookie of the Week honors for women’s tennis.

Bowen won her first two career singles matches this weekend versus Lyndon and Johnson State, helping the Terriers to their first win of the season over Johnson State. The first-year won in straight-sets over Lyndon number’s one, 6-0, 6-0, and dropped just one game versus Johnson State, winning 6-1, 6-0. Bowen teamed with fellow first year Dalia Williams to win number one doubles 8-0 against Johnson on Sunday capping the pair's first victory in doubles this season.

Morris scored her second goal of the season on Saturday giving the Terriers a one goal lead over Husson. The first year's goal proved to be the game winner as the Terriers shut out the Eagles 1-0 in their first win of the season.

The women’s soccer team will return to the pitch on Wednesday September 21st when they travel to the University of Maine at Farmington.  The Terriers women’s tennis team returns to the court on Sunday September 25th when they take on Anna Maria in a non-conference match.
