WATERVILLE, Maine – Sara Shaw has been named the new Director of Athletics at Thomas College, Executive Vice President Bernie Ouellette announced on Thursday.

"I am honored and thankful to have been selected to lead the Athletic Department at Thomas College," Shaw said. "Throughout my playing and coaching years, I have always had a tremendous amount of respect for the institution and it's athletic programs. Those feelings were only amplified when I was able to interview on campus and meet all the fantastic people who make Thomas such a special place. I am looking forward to working alongside this great group of professionals."
Shaw had previous stops at Central Maine Community College, where she was Assistant Athletic Director and Sports Information Director, and was Director of Parks and Recreation for the town of Limestone, Maine.
She is a 2008 graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education. She earned an Associate of Science in Business Administration from CMCC in 2010, then a Master of Science in Sport Management from the United States Sports Academy in 2015. Shaw competed in five conference championships as a softball and basketball student-athlete at CMCC and UMaine-Farmington. She has also competed in the NCAA National Tournament in softball while at UMF.
"We're excited to have Sara join Thomas College," Ouellette said. "Sara's passion for the student-athlete experience and their personal and competitive development resonates in all that she does. Her experience as a NCAA Division III player, coach, and administrator combined with her entrepreneurial spirit will bring a valuable set of skills to the Thomas College community."
Said Shaw, "I cannot thank the search committee and campus community enough for welcoming me into the Terrier family. I am looking forward to continuing the enhancement of the student-athlete experience and continuing the forward momentum of the Thomas Athletic Department."
Shaw will begin at Thomas in May.
