March 31, 2020

During this unprecedented and immensely difficult time, the Thomas College Athletic Department would like our student-athletes to know that our coaches and staff remain by your side. We are here for you if you have questions or concerns, or if you just need somebody to talk to. We are incredibly proud of how our student-athletes continue to show that they are leaders among their peers as they have persevered and moved forward through this adversity.

As we adapt to the new normal that the COVID-19 has created for us, it is important to us that student-athletes stay informed and empowered with information regarding their health and safety, academic resources and athletic eligibility. We are providing some helpful points below to answer frequent questions and inform student-athletes on who they should reach out to for certain needs.

NCAA Eligibility – What Do I Need to Know and Where Do I Go to Get Answers?

On March 13, 2020, the NCAA DIII Administrative Committee approved a blanket waiver that would waive the use of a season of participation for all student-athletes in spring sports, regardless of whether they used a season. Therefore, in spring sports only, student-athletes will not be charged a season of competition regardless of how many contests or dates of competition a student-athlete participated in.

On March 13, 2020, the NCAA DIII Administrative Committee approved a blanket waiver that would waive the use of the spring semester towards a student-athletes limit of 10 semesters/15 quarters.

Full-time enrollment requirements will still apply for next academic year. And student-athletes can still use the final semester/quarter exception to the full-time enrollment requirement.

All questions regarding individual student-athlete eligibility should be directed to:

Student Bill Adjustment Policy

Our Student Financial Services team has been working diligently on our Student Bill Adjustment Policy and with the guidance from the Department of Education, it has now been finalized.  The policies governing the adjustments to the bills of students are a result of the COVID-19 outbreak and the decision to close and vacate residence halls on March 18, 2020 and to delay graduation.

  • The Student Bill Adjustment Policy includes information on bill adjustments for room, board, Board Bucks, Health Fee, Activity Fee, and Graduation Fee.
  • The policy also details how to determine whether you qualify for a refund, how to obtain any refund to which you are entitled, and details for students that fall under the Federal Work-Study Program.
  • Impacted students will receive an e-mail message from Jeannine Ross, the Senior Director of Student Financial Services, sent with high importance and with the subject line “COVID-19 STUDENT BILL ADJUSTMENT POLICY.”  This email will contain the policy details and information on how to ask and answer any questions you may have.
