Every month, the Thomas College Athletics Department will select one male and one female student-athlete that have excelled on the playing surface.
For the month of September, women’s tennis player, Olivia Mora, has been named Female Terrier Athlete of the Month.
Mora finished the month with an overall record of 4-3 in singles play in the number one slot, along with a 4-2 record in conference play. In number one doubles action, the senior went 3-5 overall and 3-3 in league play. On September 23 in a 7-2 win over Green Mountain, Mora won her 24th career singles match, placing her first in Thomas women’s tennis history for most singles wins.
“Olivia breaking the school’s singles wins record was not a big surprise. She has a level of perseverance that few can match, and that shows on the tennis court,” said Head Coach Eddie Mathews. “Having Olivia in the lineup always meant you were going to have a battle on that court. Regardless of who she was playing, win or lose, her opponents never had an easy day. That impact can be contagious in a tennis match and can raise a teammate’s will to fight even harder.”
